King Salmon - Farm Raised
King Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) are the largest Salmon and considered to be the top of the line. However, they are also the least abundant species. An alternative to Wild King Salmon, our Natural Farm Raised King Salmon are raised in Canada without chemicals, antibiotics and artificial color.While the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® rates Farm Raised Salmon as “Avoid” due to the “many environmental problems related to farming salmon,” our Natural Farm Raised King Salmon is carefully grown to be sustainable and to reduce the impact on the environment.

Fishing MethodOur Natural Farm Raised King Salmon are farmed in open ocean pens in areas with strong currents. Due to the currents, the Salmon swim and develop into strong and healthy fish. They are raised free of antibiotics, chemicals, preservatives and anti-foulants and their feed is free of GMOs, dye and artificial/synthetic colorants. The farm uses low stocking densities of approximately 98% water to 2% fish. |

HandlingFresh King Salmon should be refrigerated at 30-34 degrees F. Whole fish should be surrounded with fresh ice in a perforated pan which allows any water to drain away from the product for maximum shelf life. Never directly ice a King Salmon fillet. Filleted product should be stored in a sealed plastic container and surrounded with ice. |
